RICHARD G. CHERRY 

Rick is a partner in Cherry, Edgar& Smith, P.A.  He began his career in the practice of law in 1981 after obtaining his L.L.M. degree in Taxation from the University of Florida, College of Law. Rick graduated cum laude with his Juris Doctor degree from the Stetson University College of Law and magna cum laude with a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Florida. Rick was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1980, and became board certified in taxation by the Florida Bar in 1987. His practice concentrates on development related topics such as country club membership structures and turnovers, in addition to creative structuring of partnerships, limited liability companies, corporations, joint ventures and real estate transactions, with emphasis on tax benefits to his clients.

CHARLES W. EDGAR, III 

Chuck is a partner in Cherry, Edgar & Smith, P.A. He received his B.A. from Wittenberg University and graduated with his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami, School of Law. Chuck has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1980. His statewide practice includes clients such as real estate developers, lenders and community association in matters concerning condominiums, large PUD developments, mixed-use and resort projects, homeowners' associations and loans and loan workouts involving community associations. In addition, he also has an active commercial real estate practice.  Chuck is a frequent speaker on matters involving condominiums, homeowners' associations and land use laws.

MELISSA M. SMITH

Melissa is a partner with Cherry, Edgar & Smith, P.A. She has been a member of the Florida Bar 
since 1999 after graduating with honors from the University of Florida, College of Law with a Juris 
Doctor degree. She has a B.A. in Accounting (summa cum laude) from North Carolina State 
University. Melissa's practice concentrates on club and association related matters including membership program design and documentation, licensing, resolution of member issues and turnover of management and control of clubs and associations to their members.  Melissa is involved with JDRF and serves as the chairperson for the Board of Directors for Believer's Academy charter school.
